Why Did Brandon Start Newman Homes?
I started framing houses as a teenager and did it for a living before I ran anything. My career was high-end custom homes in Florida and Massachusetts.
I came to Maine in 2017 because my family wanted to be here. What I found was that Central Maine homeowners were getting a different standard of work than the million-dollar builds I had spent my career on, and I never thought the size of the house should decide the quality of the framing.
So I started Newman Homes in Augusta and built it the way I had always built.

What About Newman Homes You Can Verify

We track every job against the date and the dollar written in the contract, and 94% finish on both. Six in a hundred do not, usually because something under a house was worse than anybody could see from above it.
Publishing the 6% is what makes the 94% worth anything.
Everything on paper
Maine has no state licensing standard for general contractors or builders, so we show you what we put on paper instead: an itemized cost breakdown, a fixed price, written allowances with unit prices for anything nobody can see yet, a named schedule, and a 2-year workmanship warranty. The National Association of Home Builders publishes industry practice for residential contracts, and it is a fair benchmark to hold any builder to.
A third down, by law
Maine caps the first payment on a home construction contract at one third of the contract price, under Title 10, section 1487. That is a genuine homeowner protection and every contractor in the state is bound by it.

Our BBB profile carries an A+ rating. We carry general liability and workers' compensation and hand over certificates on request, so verify them with the carrier rather than with us.
Licensed electricians and licensed plumbers do the work that requires a state credential, and we will name them.
